Charles Cane Corso Adult Male in Camp Dodge, Iowa

My story
Charles AKA Charlie is a 5 year old 100% cane corso (Italian Mastiff) who was found as a stray a couple of months ago. Since his time in rescue, Charlie has recovered from an eye surgery and he’s lost some much needed weight. Charlie will need to find a home with a family committed to help him stay on his weight loss journey, promise to walk him daily, and give him all the belly rubs. Charlie LOVES outside and to lounge in all types of weather, heat, sunshine, he loves it! Charlie is 100% potty trained, in the 6 weeks we’ve had him he’s never had an accident and he lets you know when he has to go outside. He is pretty vocal when he needs to go out or when he insists it’s time to walk, he’s also very very smart and learns things so quickly. Charlie is kennel trained, but he also can be trusted to be left out and doesn’t do anything except lay around and bark at mail delivery. He does great with all types of dogs, big and small and he leaves our cat alone. He could easily live with other dogs as long as he gets belly rubs, but definitely would be fine being an only dog in the house. We feel it would be best if he didn’t live in a home with shared walls because his bark is pretty loud, so no apartments or condos/townhouses. He also needs slow introductions at first, but once you spend a few minutes with him he will roll over and request some love. Charlie is wonderful. He has a lot of years left to live and can’t wait to find his forever family. If you know someone looking for a large dog (currently 145 lbs) who is the ultimate lover and likes to take short walks (rain or shine) please share. Whoever ends up with him will be the luckiest ❤️His adoption fee is $250. Apply at to meet Charles! All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.

Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older.

But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charles, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
